Frequently Asked Questions

What is the course schedule?

It depends on the program:
- Half-day Camp features Chinese classes from 1pm to 4pm Monday to Friday;
- Day Camp also includes weekday morning cultural activities and excursions, 9am to 4pm;
- Full Camp students will also have weekend and afternoon activities.

Homestay camp schedule is the same as in Full Camp, except that on weekday evenings the campers will have dinner together with their homestay family.

Family camp schedule for kids is the same as in Day Camp, and for parents the class time is flexible.

Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are all native Chinese speakers who are highly-qualified and experienced in teaching Chinese to foreigners. Our teachers are university graduates with majors in Chinese language education or Chinese literature. They have also previously obtained a “teaching Mandarin as a second language” certificate before they joined us and successfully completed That’s Mandarin’s mandatory Teachers Training Course (TTC).

What teaching materials do you use?

We developed our own teaching and learning methods. We use our own Chinese learning platform for all our classes. There you can find all the materials, read the teacher’s comments, review your lessons, and even schedule your classes.

Will the classes be taught in English?

All of our classes are taught in Chinese to give students a fully immersive Chinese experience. Even for absolute beginners, our teachers will only use limited English to help your child understand them. Our teacher will use pictures, videos, signs, and gestures to help students remember and understand new material.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes. But it’s only available for Full and Homestay Camp students. But we can help find accommodation for Day Camp students as well.

Can I join this program another time except for the starting dates?

Yes, you can. But for a more complete experience, we would recommend you to join our program on Monday. Besides, the program is possible only in the summer.

Can I change the program duration?

You can. But you will need to let us know 1-2 months in advance. If you can’t come to our school this year due to an accident or any kind of unexpected situation, your kid can come and join our program next year.
